Maidenhead DC5 Black Building Test and Transformer Voltage Adjustments
We will be carrying out a Black building test to ensure the correct operation of the power failover systems and generators are working correctly. This work is required to ensure all of the power back up systems are operating correctly and to carry out voltage adjustments on two of the 11000volt transformers.
How the work will be carried out
1. Pre-test – All systems will be checked and serviced to make sure all systems are running correctly.
2. Power Supply to the site will be interrupted using a key switch and the site infrastructure will go through its process to transfer load onto generator. All systems will be checked and monitored.
3. The building load will be run on the generator supply for approximately one hour and be fully monitored throughout.
4. Transformer voltage adjustments will be carried out
5. The power supply will be re-instated and site infrastructure will revert back onto mains power and all systems will revert back to normal state, whole site check will be carried out to identify any issues.
Monitoring will continue to ensure there are no issues through out the whole process.
When will the work be carried out?
12th February 2025, the work window from 08.00hrs to 17.30hrs GMT.
Who will be completing the work?
The work will be carried by specialist contractors and iomart staff monitoring the UPS, AC & Generator Systems. All personnel will remain on-site during the test and carry out continuous monitoring throughout the test.
Will I experience downtime?
As with any type of maintenance there is a risk of downtime. However the Black Building Test is expected to be a non-service affecting Test. If at any point the risk to the site is increased then the Test will be aborted and Mains Power will be re-instated.
