VPN Connection For End User - IPMI / KVM - Chicago

When a customer requests IPMI access to the server, we will need to follow below steps:

1) Login to vpn.softsyshosting.com (HVCH08).

2) Create a User account and password in above server.

3) Add the user to 'VPN-Customers' Group -only-. This user should not be in any other group (not even Users group). It should look like below:

4) Create IPMI User for this customers with role as "Operator".

5) Provide VPN + IPMI Details to customer as below:

In order to securely connect to KVM/IPMI, you will need to connect to our VPN and thereafter you will be able to access KVM/IPMI from your machine. Please use the details below:

VPN Details:

Server Name: vpn.softsyshosting.com
User: <<User Account Created In Windows Server - Step 2 above>>
Pass: <<Password of User Account Created In Windows Server - Step 2 above>>

VPN Connection Type: PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol)
Security / Authentication: MS CHAP 2 Protocol

The security tab should look as below:

VPN Customer

 

IPMI / KVM Details (Accessible after successfully connected to above VPN):

URL: <<IPMI URL Of the server - http://10.30.50.xxx>>
User: <<IPMI User Created>>
Password: <<IPMI User Password>>
